FINE ARTS IN FILM, TV AND DIGITAL MEDIA (MFA)

Taking references from the practice of various MFA programs, the programme requires 66 units, i.e., 19 subjects + MFA Thesis Project. The subjects are structured according to the University Film and Video Association, U.S.A. on the most desirable distribution of MFA Programme:

The shape of our MFA curriculum is like a pyramid. A student receives relatively broad training in film, TV, and digital media in the first year, and concentrates on a particular track in the latter part of the studies.

The first two semesters are devoted to building the foundation of postgraduate media training. The students need to be familiar with the practical operations of film, television and digital media, as well as understanding related issues in theory and criticism.

The third and fourth semesters emphasize on the specialized creative media. At present, we offer three tracks:

i. Script Writing; 

ii. Film and TV Production; 

iii. Digital Media Production.

Our programme is designed so that the student will have a good balance of familiarity with one media and understanding of the others. In the fifth and sixth semesters, a student will concentrate on one particular media form. The student initiates, develops, creates and produces his/her MFA Thesis Project in that media form.

Notes: 

• Postgraduate Film and Video Production I & II are designed to generate the interactions among incoming students. They are problem based creative project type workshops. Each student starts with his/her own foundation and at the end of the year gains the basis to entering into one of the 3 tracks in subsequent study.
