We appreciate the extra time you undertook to ensure your students were all set up and ready to start class Monday morning. We are so pleased the students are still on track to start the degree programs as planned and we couldn’t have done that with your help. Thank you!

Looking forward, Hawthorn-Melbourne will continue to deliver our programs online until students are able to safely travel again. Online delivery has also been approved by the University of Melbourne so your students will still have access to visa packaging and direct entry via UMELBP, allowing them to learn online now and on campus later.

With this in mind, we want to share with you some key dates for the 20-week packaged visa options that will be relevant to your students working towards the March 2021 intake at the University of Melbourne. Please also note that the University of Melbourne is currently recognising results from the TOEFL Home Edition as an alternative to IELTS, PTE and TOEFL results.

20-week packaged visa

This option is available to all international student who have an IELTS (or equivalent in TOEFL or PTE) result that is one band below the official English requirement for the University of Melbourne, including faculties and courses where UMELBP is not an option.

Course dates:

§ Option 1: 27 July 2020 – 18 December 2020 (20 weeks)
This option will include studies in IELTS Preparation and Academic English (EAP or IAP)

§ Option 2: 31 August 2020 – 12 February 2021 (21 weeks)

This option will include studies in IELTS Preparation, Academic English (EAP or IAP) and General English.

Note that with this option: students will need to include another IELTS, TOEFL or PTE result in their overall study plan. They can take the test partway through their English studies to qualify for the 10-week UMELBP or at the end of their English studies to meet the University’s English requirements directly.

20-week packaged visa with direct entry

This option is available to international students who have an IELTS (or equivalent in TOEFL or PTE) result of 5.5 with no band less than 5.0 applying for courses that require an IELTS 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0).

Course dates:

§ 31 August 2020 to 5 February 2021 (20 weeks)

The enrolment will include 10 weeks of UMELBP Prep + 10 weeks of UMELBP.

Note that with this option: the English studies are recognised by the University of Melbourne as meeting the English requirements. That is:

§ By successfully completing the UMELBP Prep, students can progress to the UMELBP course.

§ By successfully completing the UMELBP course, students can progress to the University of Melbourne without taking another IELTS, TOEFL or PTE test.
