Dear Graduate Admission Committee,

I am writing this letter upon the request from ***. He is currently applying for the Ph.D program in Quantitative Methods at the University of ???. I highly recommend *** without any hesitation.

*** took the graduate course of General Linear Model that I taught in the spring semester of 2014, while he was still an undergraduate student in the Department of Psychology. This course is the second statistics course required by all first-year graduate students in our department. *** was permitted to take this course due to his excellent performance in the first statistics course in this sequence (Psychological Statistics).

In General Linear Model course, the students were required to finish one heavy-loaded homework assignment every other week. Each homework included short-answer questions, computing problems, and>*** was the type of students that I was really glad to have in my class. He was helpful, gentle, and polite; he attended almost all lectures with preparation; he asked and answered questions; and he showed great respect to the instructor and his classmates. I believe he will be a great addition to your program and your research teams as well.

I had a couple of conversations with *** after class. He told me he worked on a project at the OU Health Science Center under the supervision of Dr. *** whom I had collaborated with before. Working on empirical research, *** has become more and more specialized with data analysis using the R program. I also got to know that *** is very interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in quantitative psychology, and he is particularly interested in data analytics using structural equation modeling and longitudinal modeling techniques. I can tell there were sparkles in the eyes of this young man when he was talking about his future plan.

Based on my experiences of teaching and advising students in the past 5 years, I believe *** has a great potential for being successful in graduate school and his future career. So I highly recommend him without any hesitation.
