IELTS

Ontario High School Applicants

Grade 12 Curriculum Requirements (OSSD)

Candidates in the Ontario Grade 12 curriculum must be completing the Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, and the following six Grade 12 U/M courses:

English (ENG4U)

Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U)

Chemistry (SCH4U)

Physics (SPH4U)

Advanced Functions (MHF4U)

One additional U or M course

Proof of English facility

Evaluate if you are required to present proof of English facility at http://future.utoronto.ca/apply/english-language-requirements. If proof of English facility is required and you have achieved the minimum required English facility test score and have/are taking ENG4U, a minimum grade of 70% in this course is required for admissions.

The Admissions Committee considers a candidate’s overall academic history through a holistic approach, however the prerequisite course average of 70% must be met.

If you are an Ontario student completing the IB Diploma please refer to our IB requirements.

Application Procedure

If you are an applicant currently registered as full-time student at an Ontario secondary school, apply via the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) using the 101 application. If you are not currently enrolled in an Ontario high school, please apply with the 105 application. Select “U of T Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering,” indicate your top program choice and submit your OUAC application by January 22, 2019.

Submission of Documents

If you are currently enrolled in an Ontario high school, your grades will be electronically transmitted to the Engineering Undergraduate Admissions Office. If you have already graduated from an Ontario High School, or if you have completed any high school courses in other academic jurisdictions, you must forward all relevant documents to the Engineering Undergraduate Admissions Office.

Canadian High School Applicants (Outside Ontario)

Candidates from Canadian provinces other than Ontario are considered for admission based on the following criteria:

Successful completion of diploma requirements as defined by the Ministry of Education in their province

Completion of the required courses as listed for their province below

Proof of English facility

The Admissions Committee considers a candidate’s overall academic history with emphasis on the prerequisite course average. You must present grades of 70% or higher in individual prerequisite courses to qualify for admission consideration.

Review our English Language Requirements to determine whether you are required to provide proof of English facility. Applicants required to present proof of English facility who have/are taking Grade 12 English (or an equivalent English course stated below) must achieve at least 70% in this course. If you do not meet these requirements, or are concerned that your English facility test score will fall below the minimum U of T English language requirements, you are encouraged to apply to the International Foundation Program.

Apply via the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) using the 105 application. Select “U of T Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering,” indicate your top program choice and submit your OUAC application prior to January 22, 2019.

International High School Applicants

Am I an International High School Applicant?

We consider each applicant on the basis of their personal academic history. Applicants from outside of Canada will be evaluated on the basis of the educational system they have followed, regardless of their country of citizenship. If you are a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, and you are admitted to the program, you will be charged domestic tuition fees.

Application Procedure

Apply via the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC) using the appropriate application, starting in early October. Any student who attends high school outside of Canada should apply using the 105F application . Students not currently enrolled full time in an Ontario high school, who reside in Canada, OR students who are Canadian citizens or a permanent resident living elsewhere (not in Canada) should applying using the 105D application. Physics

Chemistry

Proof of English facility may also be required*

Please note: In cases where applicants are not able to present a required prerequisite subject, it may be replaced with an SAT Subject test, Advanced Placement exam, International Baccalaureate result or GCE A level.

Please visit English Language Requirements to evaluate if you are required to present proof of English Facility. If you do not meet the English Language Requirements at the time of admission or you are worried that you test score will not meet our minimum requirements, you may want to consider applying for the International Foundation Program (IFP) .

China

Candidates studying in the Chinese High School system are required to present:

Senior 3 level Math, Chemistry and Physics — if students are permitted to take only one science subject within their Gao Kao, we recommend Physics; Chemistry should be presented in Senior Year 3

Hui Kao: Chinese Upper Middle School Graduation Exam results (if available in your province)

Gao Kao: Chinese National University Entrance Examinations

Proof of English Facility may be required*

Students who do not plan to take the Gao Kao must provide a written explanation why they are not writing the Gao Kao and submit a standardized test result (SAT Subject Test or AP) for each prerequisite subject.

If you are completing a British-Patterned, International Baccalaureate or U.S. curriculum, please review the admission requirements for those systems.
