一篇好的 PERSONAL STATEMENT ，必须紧扣所要申请的专业为主题来书写，主线要突出，层次要分明，结构要简单，衔接要紧密，语言要通顺，让招生人知道你选择该专业的明确和强烈的动机和愿望，并具有充分的准备和条件来完成该专业的学习。

体现的特点： A、Insight Into Your Character (注意你的个性) B、Sincerity （材料的真实性） C、Background and Motivation （综合背景和学习动机） D、study goal（学习目标） F、Writing Ability （写作能力）

是什么使你从小对该专业产生兴趣：是碰到的一件事情，是听过的一次生动的报告，是从小感到兴趣，是受家庭的影响，是读过某本书，还是某一个有名人物，对你的影响。 在日后的学习中，如何对该专业的认识逐步加深。 目前，对该专业思考和一些热门话题的了解。 今后，在这方面有什么理想和目标。

* 你有很好的学习学术能力和背景：在大学学习期间， 在理论和实践方面，打下一个很好的专业基础。 你的学习成绩优秀，在班里或系里，名列前几名。 具有很强的独立学习能力和研究能力。 对某些问题有自己独到见解和看法。 某一项特出的成就和研究。 得到过什么样的表扬和奖励。 目前学习的专业，为今后的学习打下什么样的知识基础。

* 你有很强的工作和研究能力：帮助老师搞过什么课题研究，有什么提高和收获。 参加过什么社会工作和实践，有什么经验，对自己的能力有什么提高。 有一次特殊的有趣的经历。 这些活动对今后学习，起什么作用，有什么影响。

你有一定的社会活动能力和高尚品格道德：在学校和社会上，参加过什么社会活动，有什么锻炼和提高，表演什么样的才能：分析，领导，交流等能力。 有什么爱好，比如文艺，体育。 以事实来证明诚实，可靠，善良，刻苦的品德和良好的团队精神。

对所申请学校的了解： 不要一般的说该学校有名，师资水平高，学习环境好等，而应结合所申请专业的实际来说，一定要有点新意。

一篇好的 PS 要自然地反映申请人的个性，但不要盲目个性化；要言之有物，不要空泛议论；要真实反映自己的能力和经验，特别是研究能力；要让人知道自己的优秀品德。

总之，一个申请人的求学动机，学术学习能力，工作研究经历，结合一系列可量化指标，如 GPA ， GRE ， TOEFL ， IELTS 等，构成了这个人的全貌。

Personal Statement

Living in the era of information, people are enjoying the convenience that various media and communication bring to them and the world seems to become smaller due to the global information sharing. Along with the development of technology, the media industry permeates every aspect of people’s life, changing perceptions of people and expanding the information channels. Having experienced the huge impact of media on people’s daily life and social development, I am attracted to explore more essences about this field and wish to be a professional, making my own contribution to the development of media industry. Out of this consideration, I am submitting this statement to your honored university, striving for a chance to be further cultivated by your world-renowned department and I am sure my rich life experience will make me a qualified candidate for your graduate programme.

Driven by strong aspiration for being a media-man, I chose Communication as my major when I was admitted by South China Normal University in September 2015. Within more than three years of undergraduate study, every day ahead of me is fascinating, unexpected and fresh. The major endowed me the right to directly reach others’ lives and feel others’ minds, and enlarged my view to an infinite realm. Under the guidance of interest, I have learned the courses of my major conscientiously and earnestly and tried to augment my knowledge through all the means available to me. For instance, I have been increasingly conscious of the contemporary situations of the advertisement industry in Advertising Management, through which I have got more comprehensions about differences between traditional advertisement company and emerging corporations, as well as learned their distinct management models accordingly. In terms of the course of Branding, I have accessed to related theories and conducted case studies, coming to realisation of establishment and development of world-wide renowned brands, which would be definitely beneficial to my proposed studies. With amicable and persistent personalities, I have done a good job in academic performance, awarding the second and the third scholarships due to my excellent comprehensive performances for consecutive two years.

Except for my full preparations in academic accumulations for the postgraduate study, I firmly value the importance of practical experience in my preferred area. In my college life, I took participation in a variety of activities closely related to my major, assuming the key role-player in Ucity Communication Union at South China Normal University for many times, and mainly responsible for detailed working contents, such as photos and videos processing, and operating new media for public accounts. More impressively, on 15th July 2017, I had attended a Vancouver Summer Project (VSP) at University of British Columbia, UBC, which was titled as Culture and Communication (Anthropology) and Global Journalism (Journalism).By experiencing for one-month learning process, I have had knowledge in these two areas that are quite correlated to do more in-depth explorations in media and communication and therefore rewarding for me to be further cultivated in the master degree programme. Not being satisfied with practice gained on campus and aiming to give full play of my talents and expertise into real life, I had an internship opportunity to work in XXX， taking the position of video operator and producer. Within my working experience, I was in charge a great many of documentary production for the public accounts, including pre-plannings and post-producing, together with the final examinations on those video works. Through taking part in the actual operations and management in the media and communication industry, I have not only better integrated theoretical knowledge into practice, butalso upgraded my employable skills and strengthened my teamwork spirits, which has laid solid foundations in knowledge acquisition and well made preparations for future’s career development.

Outstanding professional qualities and abundant practical experience have undoubtedly endowed me with adequate confidence and back-ups for my tertiary education in an internationalised platform. Nevertheless, I have to admit that I met some obstacles due to my limits in professional knowledge. Accompanying with the changes of eras, the interaction between different media forms becomes all the more close and the interactivity and effectiveness of media information is placed to a new level. To adapt to the high development of media industry, the professionals should find breakthroughs in technologies and methods of content spreading so as to meet the requirements of the market. That is to say, more interdisciplinary talents in this field will be needed and they should place themselves into the social environment to better apply the media theories. Desiring to be such a talent, I know clearly that I need a further study upon my upcoming graduation.

Enjoying a high reputation among the whole world in terms of its education quality, the United Kingdom became my first choice when the idea of pursuing a higher education came into my mind. With many renowned professors and excellent students from the whole world, your esteemed university will provide me with a good platform to communicate with them and improve myself. Besides, standing on the shoulders of a giant like yours will surely make me embrace more and push me closer to the goal of being a qualified media-man. Well-prepared as I am, I am convinced that my solid academic foundation and rich practical experience will help me successfully complete the master degree.
