为吸引优秀人才留在美国,美国通过不断改革移民法,为优秀人才留在美国创造合理全面适用政策的支持。美国现行的移民法中给予留学生最大的支持政策为:即使未拿到工作签证,所有国际留学生,无论什么专业,只要在美国完成任何阶段的大学教育(副学士/本科/硕士/博士),毕业后均可以申请到为期12月的带薪实习,即我们常说的OPT, 有了这个OPT,就可以在美国合法的开展全日制工作。其中,如果你的专业是STEM(科学,技术,工程,数学)4大类专业中的任何一个,你还可以申请17个月的延期,加起来29个月。近日,美国移民局又出新招,有意将 OPT延期24个月 , 而OPT本身也会有12个月,加起来总共 为 36个月 !

这意味着什么呢?

这项提议目前这个提议正在公示阶段,如获得审批通过,即使完全靠OPT,留学生也可以在美国全职工作3年!除此之外,在OPT期间,拿到还可以申请H1-B工作签证,在正式获得H1-B工作签证前,学生仍可以保持OPT身份,而3年的OPT时间无疑可以加大获得工作签证的几率。 通过这项政策的调整,我们可以看到的是美国对于高新技术人才的渴求程度是非常强烈的,因此,这类专业在美国就业移民的几率也是最大的,因此非常建议我们的广大留学生考虑STEM四大类专业,包含了具体的415个专业,常见的有专业有:

为何美国要对STEM专业人才青睐有加?

据美国劳工部统计,截止到2018年,美国将产生12,000,000个与STEM专业领域相关的工作岗位,而根据预计届时并没有如此多的毕业生能够填补岗位空缺。美国对STEM专业领域的教育领先世界,这也是其在世界范围内保持科技创新的重要砝码,比如当前国际信息产业格局是美国拥有绝对的优势,它在全球的中央处理器、系统软件的产量占有绝大部分的份额,具有影响的全球性网络公司也大多设在美国。这一优势成为美国新经济的一个重要动力,也是美国经济在90年代持续增长的一个重要原因。信息和信息产业已经象核武器、尖端常规武器和经济实力一样,成为美国的重要的战略资源。因此,美国政府在移民法的框架下,多次通过一些具体的法令,特别是增加移民的签证数量,来吸引信息产业方面的高科技人才,效果十分突出。
